14.3.2012

Ran around doing last minute errands:
1) TRIED to service my car but all slots were full (I called before hand to make an appointment but nobody picked up my call. So i drove all the way to the service centre only to be turned away. ish!)
2) Sent out parcels at the Post Office
3) Shopping for groceries in Mydin which cannot be found up north

After settling my errands, i dropped by Pormtip at USJ19 Mall for a late lunch after months of craving for their PadThai. The Padthai they serve is REALLY REALLY GOOD! BEST PADTHAI I HAVE EVER TASTED! This coming from someone who just came back from Phuket 5 months ago :)

Cravings SATISFIED!
PadThai - RM9.80

Ate at BBQ Plaza! Long time didn't eat this d.

Ordered the Deluxe Set (RM38.90) and even upgraded our plain rice to garlic fried rice :P

Overall, i enjoyed the food alot! :D Will definitely come back next time!

Canon G12

3 months ago, my mum bought a new camera (cause she dropped our ancient, 8 years old Canon digital camera into one of the rivers in Thailand while rafting - blessing in disguise? hehe :)

Camera of choice, the Canon G12.

Canon G12 – key features:

* HS System
* High-sensitivity 10 MP CCD
* 28mm wide, 5x zoom lens, Hybrid IS
* 7.0 cm (2.8″) Vari-Angle LCD, Electronic Level, OVF
* Front Dial, Full Manual & RAW
* HD movies, HDMI
* High Dynamic Range mode
* Smart Auto
* Multi-Aspect Shooting
* Extensive accessory system

The camera became my favorite toy for the next few days. And it couldn't have come at a much better time. CNY!
This year, we didn't go back to Sarawak. Instead, we had a quiet peaceful CNY in Subang :)

In the garden.

Cny eve dinner! Home cooked food! :)
Sweet Sour Pork with pineapples

Chap chai

Sotong and sea cucumber with tiram sauce.

Traditional Steamed Bawal Putih with ginger. mushrooms, and spring onion with a little bit of soya sauce and salt for taste.

I think this is duck. Not sure =/

Champagne with dinner.

Tried out the different settings of the camera. B&W, So old school!

Ipad 2!

Fish eye effect! keke.

Dad got really amused with this picture. hahahahaha. Kept insisting he was Mr. Bean's identical twin. haha.

My doggies! Say hello to Lucky (left) and Vester (right)!

Morning of CNY! Decided to do a mini home photoshoot. It is kind of a tradition for my family to take family pictures on the first day of new year. This year is no exception :)

The fun side of the shoot! haha!
We had a theme for this part of the shoot. CAN YOU GUESS IT??

Too cute! :p

The more professional takes.

After the morning photo taking session, we headed on over the Ikea, Damansara for lunch!

The infamous Ikea Swedish Meatballs. True to their fame, they are indeed delicious!

Ending the photolog with a picture of me! ;)

Overall, i think the camera is not bad. Since im no camera pro, i can't fully utilize the many different settings and functions this camera offers. Will try to learn it when i have the time. Conclusion, i think this camera is suitable for amateurs like me :P Easy to use, and its not big and bulky like some SLRs. Worthwhile investment.

Transition

And so, just like that, with the snap of a finger, a blink of an eye, I'm at the halfway mark of 4th year.

3rd year in Aimst University as a medical student wasn't easy, and now halfway through 4th year, I can honestly tell you, it didn't get any better. Its just a flurry of assignments after assignments, classes, hospital teachings, symposiums, viva, bedside, CAs, datelines, logbooks. Its never ending! Sometimes i feel so suffocated with all these responsibilities, and burdens, i just want to crawl under my blankets and hibernate for an entire month. Self declared holidays are a must sometimes to alleviate the tension and the stress.

Books books books!

3rd year was all about Paediatrics, Obstretics and Gynaecology, Forensic Medicine, Surgery, Community Medicine, and Medicine.

4th year on the other hand, requires us to go in depth within each sub specialty like Opthalmology, ENT, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Dermatology, Accident&Emergency, and Anesthesiology, all of which is a hell lot more difficult than subjects in Year 3!

In 4th Year, we get to visit certain sections of the hospital like the Operation Theater, Anesthesia bay, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), certain wards in HSAH, the outpatient clinics, and sometimes the wards in Alor Setar Hospital (Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah) too!

We get special access to their computer to look through case sheets, and management plans. Plus we get to wear special scrubs (like those you see in Grey's Anatomy) when we are on duty at certain locations in the hospital.

Group pic after hiking up a hill to have a look at a dam that supplied water to a kampung.

When we were in Community medicine posting (4 weeks), we get to venture out into the rural areas of Kedah to evaluate and to learn about the health care systems there. We study about the water supply, the sewage system, maternal and child health, geriatric health. And also about disease control, and food quality surveying.... and the list just goes on. An interesting posting albeit a tiring one cause of all the traveling we had to do.

I'm only about halfway through 4th year, but i feel i have aged a good deal lot, but nonetheless gained a lot of knowledge along the way. I just hope the remaining of 4th year will be kinder to me physically and mentally cause i don't think i will be able to survive another pimple popping put of my forehead! (I RARELY GET PIMPLES >.< ).

CHANGE!

Random flowers i saw when hiking a mountain.

Hello there!

This blog has been abandoned for far too long! Time to revive it!

Its been bout a year plus since i last did a proper update. Got carried away with.... studies... life... and changes! Life is all about changes no? :D

Speaking bout changes, i've finally gotten around to doing my IC. Not that i lost my old one. I'm just tired of people questioning my identity with questions like "is that really you??" or "you orang asli ka?". The latter is the more famous question. le sigh..

Before. (underexposure)

After! (overexposure. haha)
Staggering difference! Wont say its my best photo, but definitely way better than the old one!

Another change to note, my new Charles and Keith purse! :)

And i finally used RM100 of my book voucher at Popular.

Spoils.

Books!

Currently reading The Kite Runner. Yes i know its been out for many years now. Nothing wrong with reading it late. Better late than never! I've only finished the first 3 chapters but i can tell its going to be a good read! :D

But of all changes, there is one that stands out from the rest. However, that, is another story.

cheers! :)
